Kate's Choice

27th November, 2010

Whether you follow them or not, there is no doubt the wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton will be momentous!

As the world will be watching next year, one thing is on everybody's lips: Who will Kate choose as her bridal gown designer?

After researching, we have narrowed it down to eight:

BRUCE OLDFIELD

When it comes to Bruce, he is the coulture veteran all look up to. One of Britain's exclusive designers he has dressed them all from aristocracy to the Hollywood glamour. Not to mention that Princess Diana specifically chose Mr. Oldfield so it's a huge draw card on the royal wedding list and no doubt, whatever Bruce does, he does majestically.

Possiblilty: 7/10

ISSA

One thing's for sure, you can't beat what you know best and Kate definitely knows Issa. Who could forget the elegant, royal-blue frock number Kate wore on her engagement announcement? Sophistican, style and grace, Issa has one the hearts of Jennifer Lopez, Scarlet Johansson and even our very own Kylie Minogue. Brazilian-born, Daniella Issa Helayel believes that comfort should be up there with elegance and grace. We definitely agree with that, considering the long aisle that Westminster Abbey possesses!  Such is the loyalty of royalty!

Our rating of a possibility: 9/10

VALENTINO

The name is on everybody's lips. You can't escape his legacy. Since the Parisian, Roman and Florentine eras, Valentino stands to be Europe's most celebrated gem. A grand master in marrying French embroidery with Italian workmanship, Valentino Garavani elevates the Cinderella wedding dress from dream to romantic truth. Claudia Shiffer, Cate Blanchett, Julia Roberts, Gwyneth Paltrow have all been swept off their feet with Valentino. He is inescapable and if Kate chooses him, we can safely know that she will be enchanting. Beauty is not his fault...

Our rating of a possibility: 8/10

ERDEM

We may not be familiar with his work, Erdem Moralioğlu, (or maybe we are?) but this London-based designer has been in consistent demand ever since he was announced. Winner of the Swarovski British Fashion Council Fashion Enterprise Award in 2007, his name is synonymous with Elle MacPherson, Nicole Ritchie and Kiera Knightly. What makes Erdem stand out from the rest is that he knows how to provide that personal touch to the elegance of fashion. Fusing silks with creative tailoring, Erdem is one designer critics praise and recommend.

Our rating of a possibility: 6/10

ALEXANDER McQUEEN

Strength, senuality, fragility and style - that's something to speak about. Last year, Alexander's collection featured the outstanding feather wedding dress at the Paris Fashion Week. Quietly spoken but triumphant in exposing the sensitivity, the legacy of Alexander McQueen reigns on. But if it's traditional that you wish to see Kate in, then perhaps McQueen is not the preferred choice? Having said that, if it has suited Michelle Obama, Sarah Jessica Parker and Cameron Diaz, then perhaps A McQueen wedding gown might be the dark knight in Kate's choices.

Our rating of a possibility: 6.5/10

JENNY PACKHAM

Serene moonlight, pearl drapery, satin and lace - to bring out the sophistication you need not look further than Jenny Packham. Renowned for her fairytale settings, it is something that most suits the abbey of Westminster. We believe Jenny Packham may be a very good choice, because her trademark is in bridal fashion. It would really be a dream to see Kate in a beautiful, stunning Jenny Packham design....what dreams are made of!

Our rating of a possibility: 9/10

AMANDA WAKELEY

Unfortunately, as we all know, choosing a bridal gown is not easy, and if anyone would be a good competitor, it is Amanda Wakely. Far exceeding contemporary and elegance, Amanda has the touch of beauty, grace and elan. No stranger to royalty, Amanda was a favourite to the late Princess Diana and Queen Raina of Jordan. So, it may be that Kate will go with a trusted, exquisite and well-loved designer like Amanda Wakeley.

Our rating of a possibility: 9/10

ALICE TEMPERLEY

Graduating from the Royal College of Art and the exclusive Central Saint Martins, Alice has proven to be a model of success. With four designer boutiques in London, New York, Los Angeles and Dubai, her selectivity is justified. Known for long wedding dresses that flow with sophistican, Kate would definitely have that impression of stateliness.

Our rating of a possibility: 8.5/10
