Often, the guests of the bridal shower consist of a combination of her female colleagues, family members, close friends, school friends and the ladies in the fiancé’s family. This guest list is sure to create a mixed group of people in which not everyone knows one another. For this reason, playing bridal shower games is a great way of getting all of the guests to relax and enjoy the fun.
The following bridal shower games are simple, fun, and designed to get your guests to relax and participate:
The Toilet Paper Wedding Dress
Divide your guests into small teams of about 3 or 4 people. Each team must elect someone in their group to be the “bride”. They get a roll of toilet paper and have to create a wedding gown for her out of it (and only it). The most innovative or funny dress wins the prize.
Two Truths and a Lie
Have each guest introduce herself to the rest of the bridal shower celebrators. She should tell them two true things about herself and one thing that is not true. Those meeting her must then guess which of the three statements is the lie. You can have them simply shouting it out or can opt to get them to write it down. Do not pressure shy guests to participate as they may not feel comfortable sharing even two true statements about themselves.
How Well Do You Know the Bride?
Draft a few questions about the bride-to-be and her future spouse, ranging from very easy to rather difficult. Examples are:
How Well Does the Bride Know the Groom?
Before the bridal shower, ask the groom a few personal questions about himself. Write the question and his answer down. Questions can be about his worst childhood nightmare, what he likes most about his fiancé, his favourite car, how many children he wants one day, and so on. At the bridal shower, ask the bride-to-be the same questions about him and see how many of his answers she gets right.
Gossiping
Write a question about each guest attending the bridal shower on a piece of paper (each question needs to be on its own piece of paper). The questions should be a little personal but never offensive. Examples include “Who was Caro’s first kiss?”, “Why does Lisa like chocolate so much?” etc… Hand one question to each guest as they arrive and allow them half an hour to find the person mentioned on their card and get the full story from them. This gives them the perfect chance to meet someone new and start chatting.
It is very important that bridal shower games are fun and light-hearted. They should not embarrass or offend. Consider whether the bride-to-be’s older relatives will be at the shower, as they may not feel as comfortable with certain games as the younger folk. Always remember that not everyone will want to participate. Respect their wishes and maintain a fun ambience.
