‘Bling’ as a fashion term used only to apply to really flashy, over-the-top jewellery and accessories. However, bling has actually evolved and is now used to refer, in general, to embellishments that transform an ordinary piece of clothing or jewellery into a sparkly, dazzling one with a classy air of pizzazz. A bling wedding theme is sure to make your fairytale day as special, glamorous and opulent as you have dreamed. Add a touch of bling by incorporating mirrors, cut glass, twinkling lights and crystals or diamantes in your attire, décor and design elements. These can be used in your hair and make-up, venue and transportation. There really is no limit to incorporating the glitter to your look and feel.

Attire
White is the ideal colour for a bling-themed wedding dress, especially when paired with diamonds and crystals.  However, colours like gold, silver and pink work really well too, whether you use them as the main colour or as accents. Glittery gemstones, diamonds and mirrors reflect light, so incorporate these on your dress, accessories and jewellery as much as possible, while remaining tasteful. As you move and mingle amongst the candles or lights, you will sparkle in blingy magnificence.

Incorporate bling into the bridesmaids’ and groomsmen’s attire by using shiny fabrics and glamorous touches (such as diamante detail on their shoes, sparkling cuff links and gorgeous hair accessories).

Beauty
Use glittery eye shadows and lip colours in your make-up, and replace rouge or blusher with a golden bronzer for a fresh, iridescent look. Wear false eyelashes that are encrusted with shiny stones for a dramatic effect or lash implants for a glamorous touch.

Do not neglect your hair, but scatter diamonds and crystals in it. This can be in the form of individual gems on sliding clips, or as a tiara or embellished veil.

Décor
Bling up your wedding venue with sparkly embellishments, lots of mirrors and an extensive use of crystals. Thread crystals beads onto clear gut to resemble drops of water on a spider’s web and hang the gut and crystals across tables, from curtain rails and in branches for a gorgeous centrepiece.

Alternatively, sprinkle tiny crystals or foil confetti onto the tables. These will catch the light of the candles around them.

Transport
Because bling is all about being bigger and better, your transport to and from the ceremony and reception venues has to be grand. Consider hiring a Hummer or a Limousine. For a less traditional option, opt for a grand Cinderella-esque carriage, pumpkin-style.
